Rules of the Japanese Society of Biomechanics

Chapter 1   General rule

Article 1
The name of the organization shall be the Japanese Society of Biomechanics.
Article 2
The Japanese Society of Biomechanics aims at enhancing academic researches on human movement and its contacts among scientists in order to develop biomechanics.

Chapter 2   Enterprise

Article 3
To meet our purpose, we have objectives as follows;
  1. To hold Biannual Congress.
  2. To work as a sectional committee of the Japanese Society of Physical Education, Health and Sport Sciences.
  3. To hold a seminar and workshop
  4. To gather and disseminate information that is appropriate to members’ research through publishing the Japanese Journal of Biomechanics in Sports & Exercise.
  5. To encourage academic and international interactions.
  6. To practice any other activities to meet our objectives.

Chapter 3   Membership

Article 4
The Society shall consist of four categories of members;
  1. Regular member: shall be an individual who is a member of the Japanese Society of Physical Education, Health and Sport Sciences or a researcher of associated areas in science admitted by Board of Directors.
  2. Honorary member: shall be individual who has made outstanding contributions to the Japanese Society of Biomechanics. Must be approved by Annual Member’s Meeting with nomination by board members.
  3. Supporting member: shall be an organization or an individual who agrees with our goals.
  4. Subscriber member: shall be an institute or an organization that subscribes the Japanese Journal of Biomechanics in Sports & Exercise.
Article 5
All members must pay the membership fees as follows;
1. Regular member: 7,000 yen a year
2. Honorary member: None
3. Supporting member: 20,000yen/per charity unit
4. Subscriber member: 7,000 yen a year
Article 6
All who wish to become a member shall apply application to the Secretariat.
Article 7
Members are provided access to the Japanese Journal of Biomechanics in Sports & Exercise and other related scholastic information.
Article 8
Members who fail to remit fees for two successive years shall be considered as a withdrawal.

Chapter 4   Board Members

Article 9
The Board Members shall be a President, an Executive Director, approximately 20 Directors and two Inspectors.
Article 10
  1. President shall be voted among three candidates whom Board Members have nominated, by all members in the Japanese Society of Biomechanics.
  2. Directors shall be elected by five-member plural-vote system.
  3. Some of Directors shall be appointed by President.
  4. Executive Director shall be elected from Directors.
  5. Inspectors shall be appointed by President.
Article 11
President and Directors shall organize the Board of Directors. President shall administer the Board of Directors.
Article 12
Term of Board Member
  1. Term of Board Members shall be two years. Board Members may be re-elected.
  2. President and Executive Director may be re-elected three times (six years).

Chapter 5   Member’s Meetings

Article 13
Annual Member’s Meeting is the sole decision making body on the issues as follows;
  1. Announcing the annual reports and the following year plan.
  2. Discussing on the settlement of the balance and budget of the revenue and expenditure.
  3. Discussion on the amendment of the constitution.
  4. Other important affairs
The Annual Member’s Meeting shall be usually held in conjunction with the Biannual Congress of the Japanese Society of Biomechanics or the Congress of the Japanese Society of Physical Education, Health and Sport Sciences.
Article 14
The Board Members shall organize the Japanese Society of Biomechanics to meet the objectives.

Chapter 6   The Biannual Congress of the Japanese Society of Biomechanics

Article 15
Organization committee members nominated by the Board of Directors shall be approved by the members of the Japanese Society of biomechanics at Annual Member’s Meeting.
Article 16
The Biannual Congress of the Japanese Society of Biomechanics shall be organized by the Organization committee of Congress.
Article 17
Achievements at the Biannual Congress of the Japanese Society of Biomechanics shall be submitted it to the Japanese Journal of Biomechanics in Sports & Exercise.

Chapter 8   Finance

Article 18
Expense shall be covered by revenue consisting of;  
  1. Membership fees
  2. Revenue from seminars and workshops
  3. Other sponsorship and donations
Article 19
The fiscal year of the Society shall begin April 1st and end March 31st of the following year.
